What began as pain became my purpose. What once threatened my life became the force that fueled my aunt's legacy and my purpose — uplifting, advocating, and surrounding others with the same strength that carried me through my journey.

My story begins with my beloved aunt, Sharon McGhee—a fierce, faithful warrior who fought breast cancer with grace, courage, and grit until her transition in 2012. Although her physical journey ended, her spirit never left me. She became my guiding light—and years later, she would become the strength I leaned on during my own fight.
On March 30, 2022, my life changed forever when I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Triple-Negative Breast Cancer. In the middle of pain, fear, and overwhelming uncertainty, I reached for something deeper than despair: the memory of my aunt’s courage. I carried her bravery into every appointment, every battle, and every moment I had to choose hope over fear. That fight didn’t just reshape my life—it revealed my purpose.
My Journey
My life has always been rooted in resilience, service, and advocacy. Professionally, I’ve spent my career supporting others—through trauma-informed leadership, organizational transformation, and creating spaces where people feel seen, valued, protected, and empowered. But cancer gave my purpose a deeper meaning. It showed me firsthand how powerful compassion and community truly are—and how devastating it can be when people face this journey without support, resources, or advocacy. That is why I founded Sharon’s Lotus Cancer Foundation. This work is personal. It is sacred. It is my calling. Sharon's Lotus Cancer Foundation allows me to merge my lived experience with my professional expertise and my unwavering commitment to equity—so we can uplift warriors, survivors, caregivers, and families who are navigating the complexities of illness, healing, and rebuilding.
